What is plastic wood or wood plastic?

In recent years, people in the flooring industry have widely used WPC or plastic wood composite flooring. This product has a wood-like appearance and plastic structure. This product is known for its long history of natural wood as a new product in the construction industry, and among these, polywood is a very new type of plastic wood product group. It is most commonly used as an exterior flooring in North America and was first used under this title in 2000.

Structure of plastic wood:

Plastic wood, which is in the category of composite materials, is a combination of natural wood and plastic fiber. Sawdust made from filler fibers such as peanut husk, cane stalk or bamboo is combined with plastic powder from materials such as polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene to form this product. As these materials are combined, they are also molded to achieve the required thickness.

Additives such as pigments, enhancers, fillers and lubricants can help to achieve a higher level of technical characteristics of the product to the desired level for its intended use. Due to the unique composition of this product, it can be created using a wide array of shapes and dimensions, including curved shapes. Due to the high cellulose content of this product, it can be processed with a wood-like appearance while being resistant to water and rot.

Wood plastic composite (WPC), if a combination of polyethylene (PE) and sawdust, is mainly used in construction and building components. WPC, on the other hand, which includes sawdust and PP polypropylene, is commonly used in the manufacture of auto parts and consumer products. Also, the presence of sawdust and PVC in the composition of plastic wood makes it a suitable product in the construction of windows and flooring. The combination of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene and sawdust also produces a product that is used in various compounds.

Some WPC formulations are sensitive to staining.

How to install Plast wood

1- General tips for installing Plast wood:

Considering the structure of plastic wood, this product is capable of withstanding a weight of 400 kg.

To install this product as a cover, you need a suitable substructure or metal substructure. For this purpose, a 40 x 40 mm metal can with an ax of 25 cm is used.

Start working with this product when the construction work is finished.

The level of the surface must be ensured before starting the installation of this product.

2- Flooring with plastic:

To prepare the substructure for installing this product on the floor, you can use different substructures such as wooden cans, plastic wood, iron or aluminum cans.

If you use a can in the floor substructure, its dimensions should be 40 x 40 mm and it should be impregnated with stainless steel.

To install the product on the metal grid, a special clamp is used, which is screwed to the bottom surface to restrain the plastic wood.

The distance between the wood and plastics should be at least 5 mm along their length.

Use screws of suitable length and made of galvanized or steel.

In order for the metal mesh of the substructure to be strong in order to arrange the product, the substructure with metal cans is needed.

3- Facade construction with Plast wood:

Prior to installation, make sure that the façade surface is level.

For the substructure of the facade, a 30 by 30 can (provided that the facade of Plast wood is small or fragmented) impregnated with stainless steel can be used.

The distance between the cans of the facade network is a maximum of 35 cm.

Plastic wood material is secured by using clamps on the facade substructure network.

If several materials are used in the facade, it is better to postpone the work with plastic wood to the final stage to prevent damage to the product.

The type of screw, the method of drilling and the longitudinal distance (for expansion and contraction of Vanwood plastic wood) of the product parts in the facade follow its instructions on the floor.
